Not sure which Taylor Studwelding system is the ideal choice for you? You’ve come to the right place. We’ve put together this quick guide to help you differentiate between the different Taylor Studwelding machines. Find out how each type can work for you and your business.

Considering the following aspects will help you narrow down your search for the right machine:

Material Thickness

The thicknesses of the materials you are working with will have an impact on which Taylor Studwelding system is right for you. Thin gauge materials (between 0.7mm to 2mm in thickness) work best with Capacitor Discharge machines. On the other hand, materials of 2mm and above thicknesses tend to be better suited to Drawn Arc systems. Short Cycle systems similarly suit thicknesses of 1.5mm and above.

CD Studwelding can suit thicker materials, but will start experiencing problems over 10mm thickness. Drawn Arc and Short Cycle processes require a minimum thickness and have less problems on thicker materials. Short Cycle requires a minimum thickness of 1.5mm (regardless of diameter); Drawn Arc requires a minimum material thickness of one third of the stud diameter (e.g. 12mm Diameter has a minimum thickness of 4mm sheet).

Gun Requirements

Lift Gap CD Stud Welding Gunautomated studwelding system is an excellent choice. Automated systems offer simultaneous stud welding opportunities, including capacitor discharge and short cycle stud welding processes.

Our fully automated systems include the powerful CNC stud feed production unit, which is both fast and economical with up to 4 axis’ available and easy programming for long or short runs. These machines can weld up to 60 studs per minute with an accuracy level of +/- 0.15mm.
